Motif 1 covers the basics of Motif and enough
X Windows programming to get the student started. Motif is a graphical
user interface that provides a rich set of widgets for the programmer.
X Windows runs on a wide variety of platforms, but is mostly used on Linux
and Unix® based systems. This course covers setting up the main loop,
creating basic widgets include the the DrawingArea widget, and the Xlib
function calls to support drawing.
Motif 1 is a 5 day course covering 40 hours of
combined lecture and lab work. Hands on lab work is heavily emphasized
and class size is limited to 12 students. The next class will be starting
in September. A solid understanding of C is required. Students should be
familiar with pointers and double pointers. Knowledge of using Linux or
Unix is helpful.
